Lakshman Jhula
Lakshman Jhula is an steely halt bridge across the river Ganges, placed 5 kilometres north-east from the city Rishikesh in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is said that Lakshmana crossed Ganges on jute cables between the place where this bridge is built. Lakshman Jhula was completed in 1929. Lakshman Jhula offers a paranomic view of River Ganga and Rishikesh City having number of temples.
As per legends, here Lord Rama younger brother Lakshman crossed the River Ganga on a jute rope. later on the jute rope bridge was built here to honour lakshman. Till 1889, there was 284 feet long hanging jute rope bridge which was washed away in flood. After that a new bridge was built in 1930.
