The park was constituted combining three existing wildlife sanctuaries, viz Rajaji, Motichur and Chila. The park is spread over an area of 820 sq km and falls in Uttaranchal state. The Rajaji national park is named after late Shri C, Rajgopalachari, popularly known as Rajaji. Its altitudinal range varies from 300m to 1350m. Dehra Dun, Rishikesh and Haridwar are located in the surroundings of the park.

The park is spread over 820 km2. and three sector of Uttarakhand: Saharanpur, Dehradun and Pauri Garhwal. Jim Corbet National Park

Jim Corbett National Park is the oldest national park in India and was established in 1936 as Hailey National Park to protect the threatened Bengal tiger. It is located in Nainital district of Uttarakhand and was named after Jim Corbett who played a key role in its installation. The park was the first to come under the Project Tiger action.
